# Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime in Rightworks

If you use Lacerte in Rightworks, you should not need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime or the Lacerte SDK yourself. Rightworks preinstalls these dependencies in its hosted environment.

## What the runtime is

The Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime is a set of shared Microsoft components that many 64-bit Windows applications need in order to run. It is not a separate app that you need to open. You may also see it called the **Microsoft VC++ runtime** or **Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable**.

## Set up Filed in Rightworks

1. Sign in to your Rightworks environment.
2. Open the **Rightworks App Directory**.
3. Install the **Filed app** from the directory.
4. Open Filed and continue setting up the Lacerte connection.

Do not manually install the Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime or the Lacerte SDK as part of this flow.

## If you downloaded the runtime manually

The runtime installer may download successfully in Rightworks, but you cannot run it without approval from a Rightworks administrator. This is expected because software installation is managed by Rightworks.

You do not need to run the downloaded installer. Return to the Rightworks App Directory, install the Filed app, and continue setup without manually installing either dependency.
